ExLudico reviews are written with two readers in mind: the enthusiast looking for an in-depth, multi-paragraph investigation of a game, and the casual player in search of a more concise summary of a game’s strong and weak points. In embarking on this quest, newer reviews come in both standard long form overviews and short form “quick reviews”. The aim of the quick review is to provide readers with a rapid understanding of what a game is before deciding either to play it or to read the complete review. Quick reviews include a listing of features, a brief collection of things I liked about the title, a list of concerns folks might run into, and warnings about potentially objectionable content (graphic violence and nudity, but also the presence of microtransactions and tedium). Some older pieces may only include the quick review.
